A Message from the President
Happy Easter to all of our members who observe!
Updates on future club activities.
Registration for the Gold Coast East opens April 1st. If you wish to volunteer as well as ride one of the 5 routes, you must sign up to volunteer first, then you can register for a specific ride. You will not be charged for your registration if it done in that order.
Now that Spring is officially here, check out the Ride Calendar:
Crankin' on Mondays and Thursdays from Bethany; Saturdays from Smith Street.
All other rides, Tuesdays and Thursdays from Breezy; Saturdays and Sundays from Smith Street.
Lots to choose from, hope to see folks out there!
*The next Club meeting is Monday, April 8th, yes, solar Eclipse day!
*We will have a swap meet. Bring in bicycle related items that you'd like to sell or swap.
Tables will be positioned around the room to put equipment on. Let the bargening begin!*
The Club is in dire need of a Social Media Chairperson. If you feel you can participate in any aspect of this job, please let us know! See below about the job description. Please contact Malachy directly if you are interested: webmaster@hbcli.org
A new Club Jersey has been designed, fit kits will be available at the April 8th meeting. Price is $65.
Look below for pictures. Speaking of Jerseys, there are some Gold Coast 22 Jerseys for sale in the HBC store, please check them out-$50!
Thanks to Daniel Flanzig, HBC member, Triathlete, Bike lawyer and legal advocate for Cyclists. His article on Left Turn collisions and accident frequency is something we all need to consider as we ride. Every intersection is a potential hazard for cyclists.
*The May 7 meeting will be an "On the road repair clinic".
There will be demonstrations via hands-on tire changing, as well as videos of repair strategies.
Bring your wheels for this meeting.
So far we have stations for changing tires on the road-both with inner tubes and tubeless.
*Needed:
Gear adjusters: 3 types-Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo
Brake adjusters-both disc and rim
Cable fixers
Frame issues/pedals.
Lubers/bike cleaning.
If you are an expert on these or other skills, please contact me. president@hbcli.org
*As a follow up, the June meeting will have a race to change a tire, with $$ for the fastest changer!
Up and coming events:
Sunday, May 19th, Bloomin' Metric-look for a group sign-up to meet for this ride.
June 8, Tour de Cure-it would be great to have an HBC team for this. The ride and the route itself is great, check out the TDC website on the HBC calendar.
The Lancaster Covered Bridge Ride is Sunday, August 18-HBC contingent? The Millstream had some heavy duty renovations, fyi.
October 5 or 6, LI Cares multi Club ride with SBRA
See you on the road!
