              A Message From the President

It's exciting to look ahead to warmer weather and good riding conditions.
This Thursday, March 6th (it has been changed) is the annual Ride Leader Meeting. It will be held at 7PM in the Small Meeting Room at the Harborfields Library. Some new procedures will be reviewed. It's a great opportunity to meet up with other riders and discuss future events.
Please sign up!
Wednesday, March 12th is the first Club meeting of the year. Updates on Club events will be covered.
Karen and Tom will be sharing slides from 2 recent cycling trips to Scotland and Portugal.
July 13, 2025 Gold Coast East 2025
Information concerning this year's Gold Coast will be discussed at the meeting. Below is the new GC Jersey. It will be produced by Voler and will be available for purchase very soon. A sizing chart will be posted on the store page. Fit kits may be available at the March 12th meeting.
Don't forget, we have Club Jerseys readily available for purchase and in stock. They will be at the meetings to try on and take home. Their cost is $70.
The HBC Board extends our deepest condolences to Bruce Wessinger on the passing of his wife, Anne. Visitation and Wake will be Wednesday, 3PM-5PM; 7PM-9PM; Jacobsen Funeral Home,1380 New York Avenue, Huntington Station.
Check out Malachy's Tech Corner below. Procedures are outlined, along with a video link, to help download the new, free, ClubExpress Mobile App.
There is information below about how you can help the many bike shops that were destroyed from the California Wildfires. We should all be grateful that even though it's been a nasty winter, at least we're here to complain about it!
I hope to see many of you at our future meetings and on the road when the riding conditions improve!
Karen

Above is the approved LI Greenway. Sal and I attended a meeting to show the planned route through the town of Huntington. The designers of the route were presenting to Huntington residents/workers/administrators to get their input. They welcomed our suggestions, as we were the only cyclists present. They were uninformed about Bike laws (questioning if helmets should be mandatory!), but were very determined to create safe riding conditions. Sal made sure they would put up signage for rest areas, accessible food places, road maintenance and parking.  kg

A Message from the Gold Coast Chair, Steve Labiner

California Wildfire Support

These are some links to directly support local riders and shops affected by the wildfires out in Los Angeles.

With thousands of GoFundMe’s popping up, naturally a few are dedicated to community cyclists and small bike shops who’ve lost their homes and livelihoods in the fires. A few folks and shops to consider donating to:

Steve’s Bike ShopDorothy “Dot” Wong and Jeff HerringElon and Carly RubinBen Lieberson.

If you’re looking for something to purchase, check out the Cyclismo Para Todxs Tee, designed by The Athletic Community, screen printed by Moon Dust, and cut and sewn by L.A. Apparel. Proceeds will be donated to the Mutual Aid L.A. Network (MALAN) to directly support fire relief efforts. Preorder here

And finally, L.A.’s public officials recommend donating to some bigger organizations as well, like the American Red Cross and California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund. (And sadly, you might need to check some charities out if you are unfamiliar with them before fully donating in case they are scams.)
