Ken Abbott is a retired teacher from Long Island. In 2016 he
received a heart transplant at Mount Sinai hospital. Ken is now an
avid cyclist who is a ride leader for the Huntington Bike Club and
rides with SBRA and Team Revolution. In 2019 he met Pete
Trankina on his first century ride from Babylon to Montauk.
In March 2026 he will combine his passion for cycling and organ
donation. Ken and Pete will embark on a cross-country cycling
journey to commemorate Ken’s transplant and to honor his donor
hero – along with the countless individuals and families who have
chosen to give the gift of life to support the LiveOnNY foundation.
The ride will begin in San Diego, California and culminate in St.
Augustine Florida. They plan to ride 75 miles per day and
complete the trip in about seven weeks. Check this page often for
