The New York Bicycling Coalition (www.nybc.net) participated in the New York Families of Safe Streets Coalition (https://www.familiesforsafestreets.org/new-york) lobby day at the Legislative Office Building in Albany.  Participants personally presented the case to New York State Senators and Assemblymembers to vote to pass six (6) bills during the current 2023 legislative session.  Each of these bills are designed to make it safer for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other vulnerable road users to use New York State’s streets, roads, highways, and bridges.

During the 2022 legislative session three different NY FSS/NYBC Coalition bills promoting bicyclist & pedestrian roadway safety were passed by both houses of the legislature and signed into law by Governor Hochul.

The NYBC urges all readers of this post to contact their NYS Senator and Assemblymember to pass these bills:  [If you do not know who represents you in the NYS Senate, go to https://www.nysenate.gov/ and click “Find Your Senator.”
If you do not know who represents you in the NYS Assembly, go to https://nyassembly.gov/ and click “Who is my Assemblymember?”]
Then send your NYS Senator & Assemblymember an email stating, you want these bills passed during the 2023 legislative session.  It is best to give the Legislator the bill title & number.  Or simply copy this chart on to your email.  Most of these bills were introduced into the Legislature during the 2021-22 session.  These are the updated bill numbers.
